This morning, Free Our Internet’s Executive Director, Christie-Lee McNally, sent a letter to the House of Representatives encouraging them to vote “no” on a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution attempting to reinstate harmful Obama-Era utility regulations on the internet.
In the letter, McNally highlights persistent attacks made by radical activists online against Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai in an attempt to lobby for the CRA passage. McNally encourages the House to instead consider legislation that will actually protect consumers from Silicon Valley gatekeepers.
Over the last six months, rhetoric toward Chairman Pai has even included threats of violence and racism and, while these actions violate the social media platforms’ policies, they have been largely ignored by the social media giants who have become the lone arbiters of discussion online.
